Getting Ready for Finals and Christmas

Sunday, December 11, 2011

Time flies when you’re having fun (and when you’re a busy college student)! I haven’t posted anything in several months and now it is nearly time for Christmas. It can be a very stressful time of year as we prepare for the holidays and students realize that perhaps they should have studied a bit more during the semester as finals loom. During all the hustle and bustle of the season it is easy to become lost or overwhelmed. I have found that more than anything else, prayer has the ability to keep me in a good spirit and ready to face the challenges of the day. As a Catholic who has at times had doubts about my faith and had trouble praying, I have found a little book called Give Us This Day that was handed to me by a priest after mass the Sunday before Advent to be a great resource. It includes the texts for morning prayer, mass, and evening prayer each day as well as reflections about the readings. Having a book of daily prayers not only helps remind me to pray but also gives me direction when I don’t know how to approach God. I would encourage any other Catholics who are having trouble praying to take a look at this publication. May God bless you in this season.
